We are so sorry for the circumstances that bring you here, but we are glad you have found this wonderful group of encouraging and supportive parents.
We are a Bible-based group, and we desire to always point grieving parents to the hope we have in Jesus Christ. We want to live well while we're waiting to be reunited with our children in Heaven one day. Please take a few moments to review the materials in this folder and let us know if you have questions. This group is facilitated by Joe & Chrisy Slate. Joe and Chrisy's son, Caleb, died by suicide at the age of 17 on August 12, 2019. Joe retired from the Army in 2018 after serving 24 years and is now a JROTC Instructor at West Creek High School. Chrisy is an Administrative Assistant at West Creek Elementary. They have two other children, Samantha and Jordyn, and two Goldendoodle Dogs, Rocky, and Champ.
The Slates are not professional grief counselors, just parents who understand what life is like to have a child in Heaven. Please do not view attendance at a While We're Waiting event as a substitute for professional counseling.
